Name: Matt Nash [twitter]
Hometown: Muskegon, Michigan
Academic Program: MDiv
My family: My wife Jeana and our 2 year old daughter Emma
My church: Olivet EV Free
My ministry: I am the student ministries pastor at Olivet EV Free Church. I lead a ministry for 6th-12th grade students. Our mission is to Love, Serve and Follow. We seek to love God and others, serve the world that God has given us and serve others like Jesus did, and to follow the resurrected Jesus to the ends of the Earth.
One word that describes me: visionary
In my spare time: In my spare time I am writing my first book that I hope to have published in 2009. I also love to read.  My wife Jeana and I love to travel. We have a 2 year old that we take to the library, the park, the beach and the zoo – everywhere we go so we can teach her to be a global follower of Jesus.
Favorite Bible verse: Zephaniah 3:17 – “The Lord your God is with you. He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you. He will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.”
Spiritual hero: C.S. Lewis
Vision: My vision is to see a generation of young people embrace Jesus in a new way and rise up to serve each other. My great hope is that I am a person who loves God and my family more than anything.
Why I applied to Rockbridge Seminary: I applied to Rockbridge Seminary for many reasons. I found the classes incredibly cost effective and the curriculum based around the purposes of the church. One of my mentors is friends with Rick Warren and he told me about this new seminary that was going to revolutionize the seminary world. After attending for 4 years, I can say that it is doing exactly that.
What I like most about Rockbridge Seminary: I love the online model of seminary. It has been amazing to take all of my classes where I live rather than uprooting my family and moving them somewhere else for four years. We have lived in California and Michigan during my seminary journey. Plus, in 2008 we were in China for 3 weeks completing the adoption of Emma. I was able to do my class work from all three Chinese provinces we were in. Another thing I love about Rockbridge is that all of the professors are involved in some kind of ministry. They are either Pastors of local churches, undergrad or seminary professors, church planting coordinators, etc. The interaction you have with other students and the professors is so great. No other seminary can offer this one-on-one approach to learning and support. The discussion forums have helped me develop ministry partners and new friends as well. I would say that if you are considering going to Seminary that Rockbridge might be your number one choice. It was for me!
