Have you wanted to take a seminary-level class or expand your leadership skills, but you’re not sure you want to enroll in seminary? We have something you might be interested in. Leadership labs are 4-week courses designed for those who want continuing education or to develop a specific ministry skill.
August 28, 2018 we are offering our first lab entitled, “Leading and Developing People.” This course is for anyone who manages others, whether staff or volunteers. Pastors would especially benefit from this lab.
This leadership lab helps participants evaluate their skills in developing others. It includes discussions on: the best practices for attracting, hiring, and developing personnel; how to have difficult conversations such as terminations; and how to build a cohesive team. This four-week experience is a real-life lab in which participants develop strategies, materials, and projects they can immediately implement in their organization. Projects could include evaluating personal leadership skills, job descriptions, development plans for workers, effective staff and committee meetings, partnering for performance reviews, termination procedures, team celebrations, and team service events. The lab will require about 5 hours of engagement each week.
Enrollment will be limited to allow for maximum interaction between participants. The cost is $149. The course is taught by Dr. Mark Cook and Dr. Daryl Eldridge, two experienced ministry leaders and professors at Rockbridge Seminary.
Ask your doctor if leadership labs are right for you. Okay, so I’ve watched too many pharmaceutical commercials. But seriously, we’d love to have you in this exciting approach to leadership development. Contact: daryl.eldridge@rockbridge.edu.
